Since the 4th January 2009, Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) have been mandatory for commercial buildings. Non compliance risks a fine of £5000.
An Energy Performance Certificate provides the owner or potential tenant with an energy efficiency rating for the premises. This allows for an informed decision when comparing buildings and there energy efficiency in terms of energy costs and carbon consumption.
Commercial Energy Performance Certificates are required for the sale of a property, the granting of a new lease or assignment of an existing lease.
